It's funny, most people who like scifi say that one of its best attributes is that is can be used as an allegory to discuss current events, but I can't recall the last time I saw a scifi themed image that actually did that, until now.

Yeah, tv and movies do it all the time, but I mean that I don't see many images like this on dA, that directly reference a real life event, but in a scifi setting. I don't see many scifi images on here that have a point to make. Most, including my own, are either fan art, or something similarly innocuous. Even the ones that deal with war usually do so in an "explosions are nifty" sort of way, rather than trying to say anything. There's a place for both, of course.

Ah, I see what you mean, to that I agree, I haven't seen many scifi related art like that either, perhaps it was more popular in the 50's-80's.

Yeah, probably. I think nowadays people are more inspired by action scifi movies, so they replicate scenes of battles and stuff that do look very cool, but maybe don't have much depth to them. It does mean that images with political messages stand out more, though, so that's a plus.
